Friday night we went to the Europa Super Show & Sports EXPO bodybuilding competition in Arlington, Texas. Definitely not what we do normally on a Friday night but a friend of a friend was competing.
All the time, the hours and dedication these women have to put into developing themselves to look this way is impressive, really impressive. And probably steriods, which is not so impressive.
And it is never something I would aspire to, ever. Toned, yes. This, no. There is a cognitive dissonance in this for me: the female form doesn't need to look like this to exude strength--it's too out there. I guess I prefer the subtle approach to strength. The men, I get. But not the women.
