The Morning After
I was glad to read this morning that Adele walked away with the Grammy's. And I was glad she was able to sing again after having surgery on her throat. There is some sort of symmetry with Whitney Houston's voice dying and Adele's reviving. I hope Adele has an easier way of it.
I bought her CD last year the day it came out after having seen her on The Today program. Matt Lauer was besotted by her and as soon as she opened her mouth, I heard why.
This CD had so much play time in my car for a month I began to wonder if it was possible to wear it out. Every song struck me hard again and again. Her voice, the emotion she sings with and the words she wrote all were the perfect storm of angst. My oh my.
Then I stopped playing it. The next time I listened to the CD was today and it struck me again. Searching Youtube to watch her perform, I found this raw emotional recording of Don't You Remember that slays me.
The CD is recommended--every single cut--and she is only 23. What will be next?
