Ravelry Rocks

Ravelry is changing the way I think about knitting.

I actually might reduce my stash this year because I have learned so much on Ravelry and can find other patterns for yarn that has been lingering in my yarn closet. I am in the process of posting all of my stash on the website....it is almost embarrassing but not totally! I like, if not love, 90% of the yarn I have collected. And because of finding other knitters who are working the same pattern, my UFO's are now being worked on. Most of them I put in the closet because I was stuck and not understanding what to do next. Between Ravelry and my Stitch and Bitch (awesome) group, I am back on track.

The sweater above is made from Rowan Denim and the fabric is wonderful--it feels good to the touch and looks wonderful. I started it for my great nephew Elijah, for his third birthday. The kid is about to turn eight so I am a bit behind. Fortunately, I have another great nephew, Erik, who will be two this year. Picking up this sweater, and working out the (small) problem that made me store it away has been gratifying. I love the color, the fabric, both kids that this is being knit for and the compliments from other knitters. And it really feels good to get it on the finished side of a UFO. The collar is done and I only have the button band to do and the seaming. A few months ago, one of the knitters at SnB helped me really 'get' how to seam so I am actually looking forward to the job.

I made a donation this week to Ravelry. And will make more.

Life is good
