San Diego

I forget, conveniently, protectively how beautiful San Diego is daily. I spent most of my summers here, visiting my cousin. My grandma and I would take the train down from Los Angeles and stay too long, I am sure.

This week I flew in early for a long week of business and went to the zoo. It was better than my memory had logged and I enjoyed the afternoon of wandering through at a slow pace.

Good day, all in all. And I missed my grandma. She was a special person who did a lot of the raising of me. I don't think I have had a banana split since the last one shared with her. Just doesn't seem like it would taste the same without her smile and excitement of three different flavors of Thrifty ice cream, nestled between the ripe banana. And pineapple sauce with hot fudge mixed all in together. And whip cream and nuts on the top.

No wonder she was so soft and comfy to sleep against on the train.
