Blame My English Teacher

If you say 'acrost', stop it.

You are irritating me and it is not a word.

I swan, that PO-leese sireen startled me so bad, I turned a bottle of CoCola bottom uppards. I had to drive clear acrost town to warsh my clothes at the laundromat. Then I came back home, slished up some Vi-eena sausages and et them. I had some bananers and tomaters, too.

Sorry, I was just channeling some of my elderly, small-town relatives.

While we're on it, "alot" is not a word, and neither is "alright." I've read both in the last day, written by otherwise intelligent people. Well, okay, "alright" is becoming a word because otherwise intelligent people are using it, but I do wish they'd stop.
